6-8 apples (spy)
3/4 cups brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
dash of ground nutmeg
3 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tbsp unsalted butter
2 frozen pie crusts
Combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, flour, salt and lemon juice.
Preheat oven to 425F.
Poke thawed bottom crust with fork. Fill crust with mixture.
Dot with butter as shown in video.
Moisten edges of crust with water.
Seal thawed top crust to bottom crust. Wrap edges with tin foil to prevent burning.
Slit top crust to let steam escape.
Optional: Brush top crust with milk, sprinkle with white sugar.
Bake for 30 minutes at 425F, then reduce heat to 350. Bake for 25-30 more minutes.
